The adviser who prepared the room
Leon served as King Hasnor’s principal adviser during Deloria’s most vulnerable period. He was neither a celebrated general nor a celestial favourite. His strength was preparation: knowing which promises a delegation could keep, which maps were disputed and which proud demand would collapse under its own cost.
Hasnor trusted Leon to disagree privately and defend a final decision publicly, a relationship that kept the reduced court from dividing into rival factions.
Building an accord from evidence
Before the Accord of Broken Crowns, Leon gathered port records, refugee counts and old border judgements from every willing kingdom. These documents turned Deloria’s appeal from a plea for sympathy into a practical case for stable sea lanes and recognised borders.
During the negotiations, he drafted clauses narrow enough to enforce. The agreement survived because it promised less than the old Covenant and defined how disputes would be heard.
A mortal answer to demonic methods
Leon studied the deception used by Gyliandos in Zephyr and insisted no single letter, witness or royal seal should determine a succession case. His neutral hearing process required records from separate archives.
He left no magical legacy. He left procedures—slow, imperfect tools designed to keep fear and forged certainty from deciding another war.
