Lore
Avelorn, known as the “land of the evergreens,” is a peaceful kingdom in Nevara, founded by Eldiar in the year 0. Populated by elves renowned for their artistry, they strive for peace after enduring a history of war and destruction, seeking solace in a new age of harmony.
Long Story
CREATION
Avelorn, formerly known as Valeros, was originally located on a different continent. The kingdom started from a small group of nomads led by Sylvara Alderon but eventually grew into a heavily populated kingdom of elves, living in peace. They constructed great cities, including their capital Varos, known for its impressive structures. However, the peace was short-lived as war began to brew. A powerful kingdom with a strong army invaded Valeros, forcefully overtaking it and causing families to flee.
THE FIRST DEMONS
Valeros eventually discovered new lands, an island covered in dense jungle. Fearing further conflict, they swiftly built a city with walls, regrettably clearing the jungle in the process. They felt ashamed of their actions. Later, they expanded to a few more islands and a large landmass also filled with jungle. Villages began to emerge from the ground, but soon reports of demons started to spread panic across the lands. Multiple cities and villages were burned down. Valeros devised a plan to lure the demons into a trap, which succeeded in capturing most of them, but a few managed to escape. The kingdom knew the danger was not yet over and prepared for further attacks.
THE GOLDEN AGE
Years passed without any reported attacks. Valeros, however, faced challenges as they lost a major ally and became vulnerable while their capital underwent renovations. During the demolition of old buildings, an underground tomb was discovered. Upon investigation, a treasure trove containing rare metals and valuable gear was found, enough to defend themselves for years to come. Overconfident, Valeros became even more vulnerable to attacks, and their capital lay in ruins as new buildings were being constructed.
ELDIAR
A year later, Eldiar discovered burning villages in his path. He defended several villages as he made his way through. When the jungle was set ablaze, he was consumed by rage and devastated by the destruction. Numerous demons fell under his relentless onslaught. Eldiar tried to extinguish the fires but to no avail. Together with Deloria, the allies of Valeros, he evacuated the villages, rescuing as many people as possible. Most of the survivors were taken to Varos, the capital of Valeros. However, the renovations were unfinished, and there weren’t enough homes in Varos to accommodate everyone. The streets overflowed with elves desperately seeking safety. Many lives were lost during this tragic event, and to this day, Avelorn commemorates the fallen with an annual memorial day.
THE BLINDING AURORA
The demons were not satisfied with their revenge; they thirsted for more destruction. They launched a ferocious assault on Valeros and targeted other kingdoms as well. Eldiar attempted to keep every kingdom safe, but Valeros proved to be too much for him. He witnessed the lights of kingdoms fading away, lost in the chaos. With no other choice left, Eldiar decided to save everyone by confronting the leading demon and channeling all of his power to end it. A massive explosion followed, accompanied by a blinding white light. While it eradicated most of the demons in the vicinity, it also came with some unintended consequences. The continent was lost, giving rise to a new landmass named Nevara. The surviving people had their memories wiped, oblivious to the events that had taken place, their recollections altered. Eldiar needed time to recover and regain his strength. Together with his kingdom, they decided to rename themselves Avelorn and embarked on a new adventure.
