The War of the Undead
The army that needed no supply line
Archdemon Kraytor followed the main invasion and gathered bodies from abandoned battlefields. His undead did not hold territory or negotiate; they moved towards the largest concentration of living people and added every casualty to their number.
Ferador sealed its lower mines while Vanyr opened forest routes for civilians fleeing the passes. Astoldir taught mortal wardens how to break the binding marks that controlled the dead. Once those marks were understood, the alliance destroyed Kraytor’s army in sections rather than meeting it as one endless host.
The law of burial
After the war, the kingdoms adopted protected burial grounds and battlefield recovery units. What began as a military necessity became a shared custom of dignity for the dead.
