The First Light
The awakening of the realm
Before the first kingdom raised a wall, the realm was silent and without measure. Eldiar brought order to it: sea was divided from land, the heavens were set above the world and time began to move in one direction. Eldiar was not one god among many. He was the source above the celestial host and the final authority to which every angel answered.
From the First Light, Eldiar called forth the earliest angels. Elirion received guardianship of light, truth and revelation. His brother Zaldor received darkness, secrecy and rest. Neither mantle was evil; day without night would scorch the world, while night without dawn would leave it without hope.
Legacy
The First Light became the oldest point in the royal calendar. Later faiths would disagree about its meaning, but even rival kingdoms kept the same central belief: Eldiar stood above all, and the balance between Elirion and Zaldor kept the mortal world habitable.
