Verdalia
Keeper of what grows
Verdalia is the angel entrusted with the resilience of living systems. She cannot create a forest from bare stone or command nature to ignore season and climate. She can awaken dormant strength, connect roots that already share the same soil and help damaged land begin recovering.
Among older forest communities she is also called Sylvienne. The two names refer to the same celestial keeper, not separate goddesses.
The road through the Frozen War
When Archdemon Azrael froze the northern rivers and roads, Ferador could create heat but could not carry it through the supernatural winter. Vanyr knew sheltered forest routes but could not keep them alive. Verdalia awakened the dormant root network beneath those paths.
The roots carried warmth ahead of Ferador’s mobile furnaces and prevented the supply road from freezing solid. This contribution allowed the allied army to end the Frozen War before Azrael reached another breach.
Recovery measured in generations
Verdalia remained in the northern valleys after the fighting ended. She did not instantly restore them. The cold had entered the soil too deeply, and forcing rapid growth would have exhausted the land a second time.
Her patient work became a symbol of the alliance between Vanyr and Ferador: survival came from combining different strengths, while recovery demanded more time than victory.
