Kingdom Vanyr

Vanyr

Lore

The Vanyrian people hail from a parallel world akin to our own, where they reside in the North Pole. This region is notorious for the eldritch abominations emerging from the Great Pole Gate. Demons, unleashed from this gateway, pose a constant threat to the world, corrupting all in their proximity. Only the Vanyrians, Njords, and the dark elves have proven resistant to this corruption, thanks to their devotion to the Lady of the Potato. She not only empowers them to resist but also to combat these monstrous entities.

The Polar Gate is vigilantly protected by the Order of the Lady, an organization dedicated to holding back the demonic forces. Except for a few isolated incidents, they have successfully repelled the demons. The Order regularly dispatches scouting parties through the portal with three primary objectives: gather information on potential threats, map the demon realms, and eliminate demons if necessary.

During one such expedition led by Osmund of the Clan of the Red, the party encountered a new gate within the demon realm. Their mission was to collect information, so they entered the portal armed and prepared. Inside, they found themselves in a nighttime desert.

After days of surveying the area and resting, they decided to return and report their findings. However, when they attempted to re-enter the portal, it had closed. Although a brief panic ensued among the Vanyrians, they understood they were in uncharted territory. With no means of return, they pressed on, leaving a small group behind to monitor the gate. The desert’s heat posed no challenge to the Vanyrians, who had endured harsher climates. After three months, the realization dawned that there was no way back. Consequently, they committed themselves to guarding the gate while exploring avenues to escape. Five months passed, during which the Vanyrians gleaned insights about this world. Strangely, the gate did not emanate corruption as expected. They also encountered a green-skinned humanoid nomadic race, referred to as “Greenskins.” Despite their attacks, the Vanyrians, accustomed to facing foes larger than themselves, easily triumphed. Subsequent skirmishes occurred, but the Vanyrians held their ground. In a decisive battle, they discovered the Greenskin camp, which they assailed in adherence to their religious tenet that no “demon” should survive.

Post-battle, a thorough search of the camp unveiled another revelation about this world: the Greenskins spoke the common tongue, akin to the Vanyrians. Presently, the Vanyrians eschew contact with other inhabitants, suspecting everyone to be a potential demon, as they diligently guard the portal.
